The Servant Leadership Institute

Leadership training is the critical key to the Church’s growth, maturity and expansion in the world. With fully equipped leaders, there are no limits to the potential growth and influence of the Church in every nation. But without properly and adequately trained biblical leaders, the Church will not reach its God-given goals, nor will it have its intended influence on society. Christ is the Head and the Church is His Body; therefore, we are dedicated to transforming people, families, nations and the world.

To that end, Servant Leadership Ministries (SLM) has developed the Servant Leadership Institute (SLI) in order to train present and future leaders in Third-world nations, especially for Africa and Asia, leaders can lead the way of change for individuals, churches and nations.

The following is an explanation of the proposed building project for SLI in Nigeria and our plans for to establish, develop and grow SLI in Nigeria and beyond.

PURPOSE

Training spiritual leaders is our calling, and our specific purposes are:

• To train thousands of spiritual leaders in practical biblical truth so they can produce strong, growing and reproducing Churches in their nations.
• To raise up a body of next generation leaders who will strengthen the existing Church and plant new churches.
• To help develop Christ’s Church fully in many nations.
• To make full disciples of the Lord who will disciple others and change nations.

VISION

To train leaders and believers in solid biblical and practical truth in order to produce strong and growing leaders who will produce strong, growing and reproducing churches.

GOALS

The primary goals of SLI are:

1. Provide in-depth training seminars on relevant and practical topics.
2. Establish an SLI center in Nigeria to train leaders in Africa.
3. To mentor leaders and provide them with biblical materials.
4. Assist leaders to plant churches and raise up biblical elders.
5. Establish discipleship training programs and materials for all believers.
6. Establish a large theological library for use by pastors and leaders.

PROGRAM

Training leaders properly, practically and effectively requires specific vision, materials, trainers and programs that can equip the spirit, mind, life and ministry of leaders. Therefore, SLI will achieve this goal by:

1. Hosting teaching seminars on relevant and practical topics.
2. Printing leadership materials for free distribution.
3. Setting up leadership libraries for pastors to use.
4. Mentoring leaders who can mentor others.
5. Develop trainers in the nations who can take over this ministry.

SEMINARS

Providing the best training and teaching seminars is essential to the proper and practical maturing of spiritual leaders in Africa. Therefore, SLI will provide practical and thoroughly biblical seminars like the following, and others will be added as requested:

• Principles and Practices of Serving and Leading Like a Servant
• How to Study and Interpret the Bible Correctly
• Developing Elders and Leaders in His Church
• Character Development for Leaders
• Maximum Discipleship: Learning and Living All the Commandments of Christ
• Raising Up True Shepherds for God’s Flock
• Overcoming Personal and Interpersonal Conflicts
• Counseling Like Jesus
• Planting and Building Strong and Growing Churches
• Equipping Members for Service and Ministry
• Building Strong Families and Marriages
• And many others.

PLANS

SLI will build a multi-purpose headquarters in Akure, Nigeria to initially reach the countries of West Africa and then all of Africa from 2006. The building project is shown in the schematics below and consists of several classrooms, offices, large auditorium, printing area, restaurant and dorm. The auditorium can hold up to 1,000 people and the dorm is for guests who will travel from abroad to attend the seminars.

LIBRARY

SLI will assist in establishing a large theological library which will house several thousand volumes of biblical and practical materials for use by pastors and other Christian leaders to do research and writing for their ministry. Also, SLI will assist in setting up several computers that can be used by anyone who uses the library. SLI is dedicated to helping pastors and Christian leaders learn as much as possible with a loving attitude in the use of their biblical knowledge.

COSTS

Every good work requires financial in order to reach its goals, and this is no exception. However, SLI will eventually become self-supporting so that native Nigerians will carry all of the costs after one to three years. Therefore, SLI projects the following costs over the next three years:

Every worthy goal requires sacrifice and dedication. This is a worthy goal for training the present and next generation of leaders on for Africa. Sadly, Africa has some of the least evangelized nations in the world and fewest trained leaders, but they do have some of the greatest Christian potential for transforming nations and the world. Combined with your help and these great needs and opportunities, SLI will have a significant impact when it is fully operational.
